Abstract

Khalid Fateh Muhammad is renowned in Urdu literature as a short story writer and novelist. Newspapers should make people feel a change in thinking and appearance. They should also spread real awareness. Their news should reflect the truth of life and social issues. A newspaper should show the reality, not just present events. It should have such light that brings clarity and understanding to society. A significant aspect of his short stories is that he has exposed the injustices faced by women in our society. It should be kept in mind that in today's modern world, even women should have equal rights. They should get the same rights as men, and no one should treat them unfairly. He believes that women are victimized on many levels in our society. It had been shown in their legends that the tragedy of the women in the subcontinent is that they either have to face contradictions on the behalf of women like themselves or they are victims of the men in their houses. The characters of men in fiction are free from all restrictions and all restrictions are made only for women. Issues such as honor killings, forced marriages, humiliation, etc., have been present in Pakistani society for decades. This article uncovers the gender discrimination and contradictions present in Khalid Fateh Muhammad's short stories.
