Journalistic Characters in the Novels of Ghafar Shahzad: The Cultural Formation of News, Reality, and Narrative

Abstract

Ghafir Shahzad has made a distinct identity for himself in the 21st century in terms of novel writing. The characters in Ghafir Shahzad's novels are real-life characters, in his novels we see more characters related to journalism and architecture. Ghafir Shahzad is an expert in architecture as well as a very good columnist. His entire life was spent solving the problems of architecture and journalism, which is why we see journalist characters and their social interactions in his novels. Ghafir Shahzad describes the psychological, economic and social dilemmas of his journalist characters with great artistic skill. Ghafir Shahzad’s journalist characters are diverse. He has a special mastery in character development. His characters are not driven by the merciless waves of events and time, but are lively and dynamic. The author keeps a firm grip on them and, by delving into their innermost being, makes many aspects of their personality clear to the reader. Ghafir Shahzad’s journalist characters appear to be living, breathing people of real life. They represent both good and evil people. Sometimes there are psychological confusions and social oppression, and sometimes these characters are seen taking unfair advantage of human compulsions.
