Progressive Thought; Past and present, Issues and Challenges

Abstract

No one can deny the importance of movements in the history of language and literature. In the past, the movement which left its deep impact on minds in terms of literary, political and social contexts was progressive movement. progressivism was quite popular at the public level as well. This movement was made controversial but the writings that came out in support and opposition of this movement opened the doors of new debates. This movement still exists today as a thought and trend in Urdu literature. In the present era, this thought is facing new problems and the new thoughts of progressivism are being nurtured in the minds of new Urdu writers, this research paper covers it. The progressive manifesto was actually the creation of the conditions under which the poor class of the third world had been suffering for a long time. In response to the situation, they began to come up with literature and criticism that reflected the minds of the poorer sections of society۔
